Shaping the future: Our strategy for research and innovation in humanitarian response.
The search strategy for each of these contextual factors included an in-depth literature review, plus expert interviews, each of which was used to analyse the impact of the specific contextual factors on health interventions during crises. Based on these findings, recommendations for future research were made for each contextual factor.
The research captured a large number of related peer-reviewed articles. However, the vast majority either did not address humanitarian crises, or consider the impact of the different contextual factors on public health interventions during humanitarian crises. To supplement information available in the literature, interviews which focused on the following topics were conducted with experts: priority gaps in the available evidence; specific issues related to the type of crises; type of studies needed; and use of guidelines and standards.
