|WaterScope’s proposition. With our method communities can test suspect drinking using our disposable cartridge and testing system. Results are achieved in less than 2 hours, with results displayed locally for community education and strategy, and also uploaded to a database for mapping, dissemination and intervention.

WaterScope sought to develop a rapid, handheld water testing device, allowing low-income communities to test for bacterial contamination. The project was broken up into two parts; first, refining their system, making it simple and portable, ensuring tests can be done in low-resource settings, without significant training. Second, they trialled their prototype in Tanzania to pave the way for further iteration, scale-up and greater impact. The final project report provides information on the methodology, activities, outputs, impact and dissemination of learning.
