Though support for humanitarian research is growing in the sector, conducting research in humanitarian settings is still far from easy with researchers facing barriers from insecurity and inability to access affected people, to staffing and communication issues.

Drawing from our portfolio of research studies this report looks at the range of challenges research teams have faced and what solutions they adopted, providing practical guidance and suggestions for anyone planning research in emergency settings.
