HIF Journey to Scale grantee Pragya have produced a report on the hazard profiles of the Western and Eastern Indian Himalaya regions for the project DMS Himalaya. The DMS Himalaya model empowers communities for participatory disaster management at the local level, spanning both pre and post disaster stages, in seamless collaboration with the government.

It is customised to the specific hazard profile of each zone in the Himalayan region. These hazard profiles were created in consultation with nodal disaster management institutions, Himalaya experts and local disaster management actors. The result is comprehensive hazard profiles, covering the frequency of occurrence and impact of a range of disasters, as well as the vulnerability of the local population to those disasters.
