This research proposes to evaluate the effectiveness of a de-escalating violence training for healthcare workers in combination with an organisational level intervention that may further contribute to curb the violence.

One component of this is the participatory development of codes of conduct to be displayed in health facilities and hospitals. These codes of conduct are now available for DRC, having been developed through consultation with health care representatives at the health zone level. One code of conduct was developed for visitors to health facilities, and the other for health care workers.

The launch of the code of conduct was preceded by an introduction to the code with all community members. This proactive engagement intended to promote not only a shared understanding and commitment to ethical standards among healthcare professionals, but also to strengthen the relationship between healthcare providers and the communities they serve.
