Madara Hettiarachchi

Madara is the Director of Programmes & Accountability at the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a UK umbrella organisation that unites the 15 largest humanitarian agencies to coordinate public fundraising appeals for major humanitarian crises. In this role, she ensures DEC funds are utilised effectively and efficiently to maximise impact for crisis-affected communities. With 24 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, Madara has led responses to numerous major emergencies has deployed to 13 large-scale emergencies globally.
