Dan McClure, Chair of our Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF)’s Advisory Group, recently stepped down from the role after four years.Dan, who has spent more than 30 years designing and applying innovation practices in both private and public organisations, joined the HIF Advisory Group as a member in September 2014 before becoming Chair in 2017. In the role, he helped to forge a dynamic HIF strategy set to ‘tackle the next generation of innovation challenges’ for 2018-2020.Dan has been an insightful and supportive Chair. He has shared valuable strategic thinking on multiple issues related to humanitarian innovation including pathways to Scale, innovation and ethics and building skills and capabilities on innovation management – and always has a strategic framework or diagram to capture and communicate these creatively and effectively. We will miss his lateral thinking, creativity and expertise, and his gentle demeanour. The HIF Advisory Group has greatly appreciated having Dan as their Chair and expressed their thanks to him, as have our Board and senior leadership team. We have progressed our HIF programme not in small part due to Dan’s contribution. We cannot thank Dan enough for the time, commitment and expertise he has given to the HIF team and Elrha, and while he is leaving our advisory group we hope to keep engaging with him on our work.
