Our R2HC programme aims to improve health outcomes by strengthening the evidence base for public health interventions in humanitarian crises.    This is an urgent call for short-term research to be undertaken in the context of the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.    Research proposals should address priority health needs inresponse to the current Ebola outbreak and its wider impact on the health system in eastern DRC, or in support of prevention measures in neighbouring countries (Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda).    Research activities will take place over a 3-6 month period from July 2019.

Proposals must clearly outline how the research consortium will promote the research findings in real-time.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The call is open to humanitarian organisations already on the ground in DRC and their academic partners, as well as those interested in conducting related research in DRC and neighbouring countries at risk of being affected by the Ebola crisis.

This is a Responsive Research Mechanism call. The aim of these types of calls is for research findings to contribute to an emergency response in real time and/or is an opportunity for data to be collected at a particular time or place in an unforeseen emergency. Our responsive calls also offer an opportunity to generate research findings that can be used to influence similar responses in the future, or to add to the body of evidence in a particular context.

R2HC Uptake and impact small grants

Elrha’s Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises programme aims to improve health outcomes for people affected by humanitarian crises by strengthening the evidence base for public health interventions. Since 2013, we have funded more than 100 research studies. We have identified a critical gap in funding for knowledge translation, communications and engagement activities required for research findings to be understood, used and applied by humanitarian stakeholders.
