Annual Report 2024
2024 was a year of growing complexity and transition for the humanitarian sector, shaped by protracted conflict, climate shocks and rising global need. For Elrha, it was a year of organisational change and continued commitment to supporting grantees to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions in some of the world’s most challenging crisis settings. This Annual Report reflects how we have remained focused on relevance, impact and collaboration as we look ahead to strengthening humanitarian response through research and innovation.

Welcome to our Annual Report 2024
2024 was a year of growing complexity and challenge for the humanitarian sector. Conflicts in the Middle East, Sudan and Myanmar, alongside the escalating impacts of the climate crisis, have left more people in need of humanitarian assistance than ever before. These realities reinforce the importance of staying connected to crisis-affected communities and ensuring the work we fund remains relevant and impactful.
For Elrha, 2024 was also a year of transition and growth. We experienced a period of leadership change and took important steps to strengthen our organisation, including preparing to integrate the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub into Elrha to increase our collective reach and impact.
Throughout the year, supporting our grantees to address critical humanitarian challenges remained our priority. Elrha-funded innovations were implemented in some of the world’s most complex crisis settings, from mental health support in Haiti to improving access to dignified, culturally appropriate menstrual hygiene products in Gaza. We also expanded our work on climate adaptation in WASH and deepened our focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Our Annual Report reflects how we have responded to a changing humanitarian landscape in 2024 and looks ahead to how research and innovation will continue to drive more effective and accountable humanitarian action.
