This project focused on the dissemination of best practices and lessons (from original innovation) and advocacy for inclusion of menstrual hygiene management (MHM) in emergency contexts at a strategic, decision-making level.The project successfully:

  • Ran a global MHM workshop hosted by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Lebanese Red Cross in Beirut from 22nd - 24th October 2018. There were 35 participants from 22 National Societies and IFRC, as well as eight external partners.
  • Published a case study with key results and lessons from MHM operational research in Burundi, Uganda, Somaliland and Madagascar which aimed to better understand the challenges women and girls face with menstruation in humanitarian contexts, and to generate evidence on MHM kits.
  • Launched a second video for advocacy and training on MHM.

The final project report provides information on the methodology, activities, outputs, impact and dissemination of learning.
