How to make the most of our R2HC Research Forum

10 & 11 September 2019With just one week to go, we’ve pulled together some top tips to make sure you get the most out of the event and your time with us:

Before

Read the programme:

You can see the full agenda, who will be there and what pressing humanitarian research issues we’ll be exploring

Choose your breakout sessions:

There are 16 different breakout sessions you can choose from! They’ll explore a range of topics from engaging with affected communities and data stewardship to health economics and co-producing research. To make sure you're part of the discussions that interest you most, book your place now.

Get ready to network:

The Research Forum is a great opportunity to network and meet people in our community. Before you arrive you can explore the attendees section of our online Research Forum Hub to see who is coming. You can also make sure others know more about you by creating your profile.Is there someone you want to book a meeting with during the Forum? Click on their profile to see if they have shared their contact details and get in touch.

Be social:

Head to social media and let us know what you’re excited to hear, learn and discuss. Use the hashtag #R2HCForum and tag us @Elrha.

During

Take the chance to meet people:

With over 100 people attending from a broad range of research institutions and humanitarian organisations, you can meet with others who are conducting humanitarian health research, as well as individuals responsible for ensuring the uptake of research findings to improve outcomes for people affected by crises.During the Forum there will be plenty of opportunities to speak with your fellow attendees, including at our informal welcome and ‘get to know you’ drinks on Monday evening. Or why not catch up or meet with someone over breakfast, lunch or dinner?There will be a dedicated networking space in the Windsor Building where you can take a seat and share a table with someone new at lunch time.

Find out where you need to be:

Make sure you know which breakout sessions you’re going to and where they are. A list of these will be available in the foyer of the Windsor Building each day, with our team on hand to answer any queries. You can check out the venue map now to get an idea of where you'll need to be.

Get involved and ask questions:

As experts in your fields, we encourage you to interact with our panellists and speakers. You’ll have a chance to share your thoughts, ask questions and provide feedback using our audience interaction platform: Slido.We'll give you information about how to access Slido at the Research Forum.

Inspire the artists:

Look out for our ‘visual scribes’ who will be capturing discussions, conversations and key points from the Forum over two days, and creating a wall of illustrations. Please do speak to them and share your thoughts – they are keen to hear what you think is important to include.

Take home some resources:

Alongside the event programme in your welcome pack you’ll find our updated R2HC Research Portfolio which features over 60 research studies we have funded through the programme.

Want to know more about us, our R2HC programme or our innovation programme the Humanitarian Innovation Fund? Take the chance to speak to our team face-to-face - you can find out who they are by looking at the team page in the event programme or spot people wearing a blue lanyard.

Made a connection? Follow up:

If you agreed to follow-up with someone you met at the Forum, then make sure you do! Connect over email or social media and set up meetings so that your ideas and discussions don’t get forgotten. Lost their business card? See if you can get their contact details from our online Research Forum Hub, or contact a member of the R2HC team to see if we can put you in touch.

Keep an eye on your email and share what you’ve learnt:

After the event, we’re planning to share some easy and interesting ways for you to remember the event, what happened and what was discussed which you can also pass on to colleagues that couldn’t be there.

Help shape our next Research Forum:

You’ll be able to share your thoughts and views throughout the Forum using Slido, but following the event we’ll send you a short evaluation survey where you can share your more considered thoughts after the Forum is over.Don’t forget to keep in touch with other attendees and R2HC.
