“The decision to abandon the UK’s commitment of 0.7% - a commitment enshrined in law - is a serious error in judgement. We know that humanitarian interventions based on evidence save and improve the lives of the most vulnerable people - cuts the Government choose to make should not put this at risk or come at the cost of lives.
“The UK will soon host both the G7 and COP26 and will ask other countries to make commitments to drive progress at a time when we are reducing ours. We stand with our colleagues across the sector and share the disappointment of this broken promise to the world’s poorest who continue to face the impact of the global pandemic. We urge Prime Minster Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak to reverse their decision.”
