We are delighted to announce that as of Today, 1 May 2018, Elrha is an independent charity and legal organisation in its own right.

Since our beginnings in 2009, we have been a hosted initiative of Save the Children UK, receiving invaluable operational support from them on our journey to date. During our time as part of the Save the Children family, we have established ourselves as a global leader of humanitarian research and innovation – a track record built on the development of two successful humanitarian programmes; Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) and the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (the HIF), which have provided support to almost 200 collaborative research and innovation initiatives globally.

In addition to our programme work, we have led international policy work in the fields of humanitarian professionalisation and recently in research and innovation policy and practice through the launch of the Global Prioritisation Exercise for humanitarian research and innovation (GPE). In 2016 we were also appointed to host the Global Alliance for Humanitarian Innovation (GAHI).

We are ambitious to achieve even more in the years to come.

Our work fills a critical need for more research, evidence and innovation within the humanitarian system. Working towards our vision of ‘a world equipped to mitigate the impact of humanitarian crises’ is no easy feat, but with our strong foundations and the support of Save the Children UK, the time is now right for us to achieve greater autonomy, transparency and independence and ensure our work has maximum impact on humanitarian outcomes to help those affected, while remaining true to our core values.
