Shaping the future: Our strategy for research and innovation in humanitarian response.
The UK Government is in the process of developing a new white paper on international development. As part of the consultation process, they put out a call for evidence which has a strong focus on the role of science, innovation and technology.
We, Elrha, and the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub (UKHIH) have produced a joint submission that responds to the formal questions set out by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in its consultation on the ‘UK International Development White Paper’.
One of our key policy calls is for an equivalent of 2% of annual humanitarian spend to be added to support research and innovation in the sector, and a renewed commitment to shift power and funding to humanitarian research and innovation partners in the global South.
