In 2011 Elrha started investing in new ideas and solutions for the humanitarian community. We were the first to see the potential of innovation at a time when there was little appetite for how it could advance humanitarian response.
We’re now looking at a very different picture. The sector has come a long way, with a thriving community of people and organisations who understand the value of humanitarian innovation.
We’re proud to have supported more than 150 projects across varying stages of the innovation process, from early problem recognition through to the scaling-up of proven innovations for direct application in humanitarian crises. Several of these ideas are now mainstreamed into humanitarian response and are leading to better outcomes for people affected by crises.
Through years of supporting humanitarian innovation, we have become experts in selecting, shaping, and strengthening the most impactful innovation programmes and projects. This puts us in a unique position: not only do we get results from the specific investments we make, but we use the extensive knowledge we have acquired along the way to help drive improvements in the wider system.
Now we are well established and recognised in the sector for fostering and supporting the innovation community, we want to go further. By sharing our learning with other funders, we are building and supporting a sophisticated ecosystem for humanitarian innovation.
We are now able to offer our partners unique and bespoke support to ensure investments in innovation in the humanitarian system achieve their full potential and, ultimately, lead to better outcomes for people affected by crises.
