We are looking for an individual or team conduct a review of Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) research since 2010 to assess whether this has informed programming in humanitarian settings and advanced the MHPSS research agenda.

AIM OF THE WORK

A 2011 review of mental health and psycho-social support in humanitarian settings highlighted the disconnect between research and practice. Since then more has been done to ensure that studies address the most pressing MHPSS challenges, and that there is closer collaboration with practitioners so that new interventions are relevant and applicable in humanitarian settings.

We want to understand the extent to which MHPSS research funded over the last ten years has informed programming in humanitarian settings.

OBJECTIVES

Building on recent systematic reviews, examine the extent to which new evidence generated has addressed the need for research that provides tangible benefits for MHPSS programming in humanitarian settings, including a specific focus on R2HC-funded MHPSS studies.  Identify whether these studies have:

  1. Increased knowledge
  2. Achieved uptake
  3. Advanced the MHPSS research agenda

DELIVERABLES

  1. A report documenting the findings of the study and recommendations.
  2. At least one article drafted for submission to a peer reviewed academic journal.
  3. Full data sets from the review including search terms for the literature review and list of published and grey literature reviewed; list of key informants and summaries of KII discussions (anonymised if necessary).

Timeline

It is anticipated that the review will take 6 months and that the outputs will be delivered by 15th September 2020. A workplan will be developed as part of the inception report.

A budget of up to £30,000 is available, subject to negotiation in exceptional circumstances.

This should include any travel costs and other expenses. The amount should be inclusive of VAT.

How to apply

The application deadline is 23:59 GMT on 5 February 2020.
