We are Elrha, a force for change in the humanitarian community. The research and innovation we support equips the humanitarian community with the knowledge of what works, so people affected by crises get the right help when they need it most.
Our purpose is clear: to empower the humanitarian community to improve humanitarian response. We make this happen by supporting and championing the outcomes of robust research and proven innovations.
We empower the humanitarian community. Find out how we can support you...

Over time, following periods of review and reflection, we have made changes to the Humanitarian Innovation Fund  that will help us to address bigger and more complex priority problems through innovation. Whilst we remain incredibly grateful to our Funding Committee members, for their support, time and expertise over the years; part of this change includes bringing our current Funding Committee to an end and building a new one, one that is  more tailored to the HIF, as it is today.

We are now looking to recruit up to 10 members for our independent HIF Funding Committee (HIF FC).  One of the 10 selected will serve as Chair. The Chair and other Funding Committee members will play a crucial role in selecting the best innovation projects to fund, and in shaping our innovation portfolio. To find out more about the function of the HIF Funding Committee, the role of its members and Chair, please read the Terms of Reference.

Who are we looking for?

Individuals with interest and expertise in humanitarian aid and humanitarian innovation. We expect that members will have significant levels of experience and seniority in their respective fields, and that they are able to dedicate the necessary time and focus to the HIF’s detailed grant review and decision-making process. We are seeking to appoint Committee members with a mix of the following skills and backgrounds:

  • Managing humanitarian response
  • Managing innovation including with impact / at scale
  • Supporting local/user-led innovation
  • Humanitarian ethics / innovation ethics
  • Humanitarian inclusion and protection
  • Community participation & accountability to affected populations
  • Humanitarian research and evidence
  • Private sector experience
  • Humanitarian policy as well as practice (how to ensure uptake of new evidence and solutions)

We want to make sure that Committee membership is gender-balanced and diverse, so encourage applicants from any country/nationality to apply.  The language of operation for the HIF FC is English. We especially welcome applications from people with lived experience of being affected by a humanitarian crisis and people with disabilities.
