Seventh Framework Programme

FP7 is the short name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013

The Leverhulme Trust

The Leverhulme Trust, established at the wish of William Hesketh Lever, the first Viscount Leverhulme, makes awards for the support of research and education. The Trust emphasises individuals and will provide funding for projects and individuals in all subject areas. With annual funding of some £40 million, the Trust is amongst the largest all subject providers of research funding in the UK. Click here to connect to their easy to use funding search facility.

The Wellcome Trust

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of around £13 billion, it is the UK's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research. Click here to visit their website.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a philanthropic foundation that works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. They focus on improving people's health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. The foundation makes a range of grants throughout the year however, please note that most of these grants are made to U.S. tax-exempt organizations, although other not for profit organisations may apply.
