Through a series of clearly defined Innovation Challenges, the HIF is seeking novel solutions from far and wide to address some of the most pressing challenges faced by emergency WASH practitioners working in humanitarian crises globally.


Challenge: User-centred sanitation design through rapid community engagement

This challenge aims to understand how to design, implement, and evaluate approaches to user-centred sanitation that incorporate rapid community engagement and are appropriate for the first stage of rapid-onset emergencies.

CHALLENGE: Developing and Disseminating Guidance on Faecal Sludge Disposal Sites in Emergencies

This challenge aims to create and effectively disseminate guidance to support humanitarian practitioners select, establish and mitigate the risks related to faecal sludge disposal sites in rapid-onset emergencies.
