Participation Handbook for humanitarian field workers

Groupe URD is pleased to announce the launch of its book; Participation Handbook for humanitarian field workers: Involving crisis-affected people in a humanitarian response.

Humanitarian agencies know, in theory, that the quality of their programmes is improved when the people affected by the crisis actively participate in them. And yet, on the ground, they are reluctant to put this idea into practice. While it is true that the implementation of participatory approaches can be complicated in crisis contexts, agencies must not allow themselves to be daunted. The benefits of participation far outweigh the difficulties involved.

Copies can be downloaded free from the Group URD website and are available in three languages. You will also find more information on the website about Groupe URD’s activities related to the participation of crisis-affected people.
