It is with deep sadness that we heard the tragic news that Graham Saunders passed away earlier this week.
As our founding Grants Panel Chair, Graham worked with the Humanitarian Innovation Fund from the outset to advance the field of humanitarian innovation. As well as his unparalleled practical experience in shelter work, he brought a thoughtful, systematic and creative perspective to all that he did. He was a key figure on the Panel, playing a pivotal role in helping to build and strengthen our grants programme.
Graham’s approach and his emphasis on what really works in different humanitarian contexts underpinned a highly pragmatic approach to innovation. He served on the Grants Panel for five years, becoming one of the most longstanding members in the process. He was passionate about the potential of technology, but was at heart a humanitarian who brought a deeply people-centred approach to his work. He was always a pleasure to work with, and had a terrific sense of humour.
We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Graham’s family and close friends.
