The subject sectors listed below give a clear indication about linkages between the operational work of agencies in the humanitarian sector and university courses. This list, however, does not yet incorporate the full range of university subjects and courses that are relevant and could be of use to those involved in humanitarian activities. Increasingly humanitarian actors are aware of the importance of a wide range of natural and social science offerings that will strengthen their capacities to prevent, prepare for and respond to humanitarian crises and students wishing to pursue a career in the humanitarian field should also consider these broader courses.
